Nothing is more annoying than a slow booting computer. You can fix this problem by removing items from your startup sequence. This is an advanced method, so be careful when removing items. First, click on the Start menu and click "Run". In the box that appears, type "msconfig" without the quotations. A new box will appear with several tabs accross the top. Click the "Startup" tab, and you will see a list of programs that automatically start when your computer boots. In this menu you can disable things like instant messenger programs or applications like Nero which do not need to load until you are ready to use them. Removing items from the startup is done by simply unchecking the box next to the program. After you are done click "Apply" (if prompted by a box about permissions, click "ok") and then click "OK". This will close the System Configuration box and a smaller box will prompt you to "Exit and Restart" or "Continue Without Restarting". We suggest to go ahead and restart, and see if your boot time improves at all. REMEMBER: Do not remove items such an Antivirus programs, or other applications which you are not sure about. This may be essential for a stable running computer.
